Betsy Gotbaum is the Executive Director of Citizens Union. She was elected Public Advocate for New York City in 2001 and again in 2005; the third woman elected to a citywide post in NYC history. For the past four decades, Ms. Gotbaum has had a distinguished career in New York City’s public and private sectors. She was recruited to be the Executive Director of the New York City Police Foundation, was appointed the first female Commissioner of the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, and was President of the New York Historical Society, as well as being an advisor to three mayors.
