World Alzheimer’s Day: September 21

On September 21st of each year, organizations around the world concentrate their efforts on raising awareness about Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia, a group of disorders that impairs mental functioning.

Alzheimer’s disease is the seventh-leading cause of death in the world, as well as seventh in the United States. As of 2023, there are an estimated 6.7 million Americans living with the disease; at the current rate, experts believe the number will grow to as many as 16 million by the year 2050.
