Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation Earns Gold Seal of Transparency from GuideStar

July 31, 2018

One of the nation’s nonprofit leaders, GuideStar, awarded the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation their Gold Seal of transparency award for outstanding financial stewardship and commitment to accountability and transparency. Guidestar is considered one of the largest sources of nonprofit information in the world, with over 2.7 million charities registered within their database. This prestigious distinction places the Fisher Center Foundation in the top 0.5% of all charities evaluated on GuideStar.

GuideStar maintains an online database with a profile for every tax-exempt nonprofit registered with the Internal Revenue Service. To reach the Gold level, the Fisher Center Foundation added comprehensive information to its GuideStar profile, including in-depth financial information and qualitative information about goals, strategies, and capabilities. According to GuideStar, “By taking the time to provide this information, the Fisher Center Foundation has demonstrated its commitment to transparency and giving donors meaningful data.”

GuideStar’s announcement is only the most recent accolade acknowledging the accountability and integrity of the Foundation. The Foundation has also been recognized by America’s Best Charities as an organization that seeks to meet the highest standards of public accountability and program effectiveness. In April, the Foundation also earned its seventh consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s leading charity evaluator. Only 3% of charities evaluated by Charity Navigator attain this level of excellence.

“The board, Dr. Greengard, and I are excited by this honor which places us among the top charities in the nation,” said Kent Karosen, President and CEO of the Fisher Center Foundation.
