Ruth Pelusio Licari, age 82, died peacefully at home on Saturday, June 2, after a four year struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was born into a large family of six children and grew up in Jersey City, NJ. Ruthie completed her training as an orthodontics assistant and worked in that field until her May 1975 marriage to Dr. Aidan Licari. Later that year they moved to Mobile, AL where Aidan served as a teacher in the Religion Department of McGill-Toolen Catholic High School. During those years and beyond, Ruth worked as the Dental Receptionist for Dr. Coppejans, and later for Drs. Norstedt, Sands and D. Martin; and she lived her life as a devoted wife and mother. She had the heart and skills of a gourmet cook, surpassed only by her beautiful gift of hospitality, her passion for gardening and love of animals. She was a faithful supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and served her parish in VBS and bereavement ministry. She was foremost a true partner and support to her husband, Dr. Aidan Licari, (retired) Director of Lay Ministry (TIPS) for the Archdiocese of Mobile. She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Stalter and Beatrice Stalter Seacord; and sisters, Mrs. Gloria Snow and Mrs. Dorothy Snow. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Aidan A. Licari, and her daughter Bonnie Pelusio (retired from Drs. Hicks/McMurphy Orthodonics); Raymond (Kathy) Stalter, Barbara (Charles) Ray and Donald (Terri) Stalter; many nieces, nephews, and her faithful dog, Lily. Special gratitude is expressed to SAAD’s Hospice Nurses for their compassionate care and services during Ruthie’s final days. She graciously donated her body to the Anatomical College of Medicine at the University ofSouth Alabama (USA). A Memorial Mass was celebrated at the Our Savior Catholic Church in Mobile on July 8. 2017.
