Fook Tin (Tina) Ng passed away peacefully in her sleep in Oakland, CA on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the age of 88.
She was born on July 25, 1932 to Yuen Mui Nan and Wan Guk in Hong Kong and was the youngest of five children.
Tin is survived by her three sons, Calvin and his wife Sarah of La Mesa, CA; Richard and his wife Kathy of Castro Valley, CA; Derek and his wife Holly of Gates, OR; grandchildren, Jessica, Scott, Miranda, Jennifer, Katherine, Petrina, Spencer, Gianna, Julian Lee and Hanna Lee. She is also survived by an older brother and sister, and many nieces and nephews.
Tin had a tough childhood growing up in war torn Hong Kong and developed her strength and determination through that experience. As a young woman, she met her future husband, Yeu Bun (Peter) Ng – a dashing young usher at a local movie theater; they wed soon after and started their family.
Through the love and generosity of Bun’s four sisters, the young family immigrated to America where Tin drew on her strength and determination. Tin learned English, obtained her driver’s license and joined the workforce – retiring from the Coral Reef Motel in Alameda after 22 years.
She enjoyed traveling, knitting and cooking. She was an excellent cook and loving prepared delicious feasts for her family. She will be forever missed and loved by her family.
The family would like to thank the care providers at Elder Ashram Woodpark of Oakland and Aegis Gardens of Fremont for their compassionate care of our mother.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, private services were held.
Memorial donations may be made in Tin’s name to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, 110 East 42nd Street, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10017.
