Anita Knieper

<<< Return to Memory Wall

Anita was born in Peoria, Illinois on April 1, 1948. Devoted mother of Christopher (Michelle), Sharon, Mary Jo (Jeffrey) Brown and Grace (Adam) Burns. Proud grandmother of Kristen, Daniel, Addy, Huck, Juni, John, Isla, and Anna.

Anita met her husband, Wayne, while at nursing school in Chicago, and the two enjoyed 50 years of marriage. Anita was a lifelong caretaker both as a nurse, primarily at Saginaw Division, and for the family she loved dearly. Many knew her as “the baby whisperer,” and her grandchildren were her greatest joy until Alzheimer’s took her.

Anita was famous for her hugs and easy laugh, both of which will be greatly missed.

Because she cared so lovingly for her own mother with Alzheimer’s, she taught her family how to be devoted and generous in time. We look forward to a day we can celebrate meaningful treatment and prevention of Alzheimer’s in her honor.
