Priya Rajasethupathy is the Jonathan M. Nelson Family Associate Professor and Director of the Fisher Memory Initiative at The Rockefeller University. Since 2026, she has directed the Fisher Center Targeted Therapies Initiative for Memory Loss in Alzheimer’s Disease.
Her research focuses on understanding the neural computations that support memory—exploring how the brain encodes, stores, and retrieves information through the activity of complex neural circuits.
Dr. Rajasethupathy received her B.A. from Cornell University and earned her M.D./Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Columbia University, where she worked with Nobel laureate Eric Kandel. She then completed her postdoctoral training at Stanford University in the laboratory of Karl Deisseroth.
At Rockefeller, Dr. Rajasethupathy leads a laboratory whose experiments seek to uncover the brain mechanisms underlying memory. Her work has been recognized through several major honors. She is a Vallee, Searle, and Klingenstein Scholar, and has received an NIH New Innovator Award, a Presidential Early Career Award, and the MIND Prize.
