Dr. Ledo’s work focuses on understanding how a specific type of cell called microglia participates in the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Microglia are non-nerve cells that support the function of nerve cells; they are also involved in the inflammation process. For these reasons, microglia are emerging as an important cell type highly relevant for Alzheimer’s disease.
