- Presently, there is no cure for Alzheimer’s disease
The Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation is working day and night to make Alzheimer’s disease nothing but a memory. Founded in 1995, we are a leading source of funding for Alzheimer’s research. We serve Alzheimer’s patients and their families by seeking to understand the causes of, discover a cure for, and improve the lives of people with Alzheimer’s disease.
A majority of our funding goes to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research at The Rockefeller University under the direction of Nobel laureate Dr. Paul Greengard. The Center has provided researchers around the globe with a conceptual framework for understanding the disease process and continues to be at the forefront of one day finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Greengard is recognized internationally as one of the great leader in the field of Alzheimer’s research.
The Foundation also supports clinical research at the Fisher Alzheimer’s Disease Education and Resources Program at New York University Medical Center, led by pioneering researcher Dr. Barry Reisberg. Dr. Reisberg created the Clinical Stages of Alzheimer’s used today by physicians and care centers throughout the world. His work is instrumental in the development of pharmacological treatments to help determine FDA approval.
We offer support by operating this website, which is one of the Internet’s leading resources for caregivers, family members, and people living with Alzheimer’s disease. In addition, the Foundation publishes Preserving Your Memory: The Magazine of Health and Hope, an award-winning quarterly publication that covers the latest news in Alzheimer’s research and offers patients and their families’ informative and engaging activities for maintaining their well-being and brain health. The Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation actively raises funds for these purposes.
We are committed to combating this terrible disease as we strive to rid the world of Alzheimer’s to protect our children and children’s children from its devastating effects.
