My 3 year old grandma.

Thursday, March 15, 2007

When i was only 6 years old, i got that unwanted call from my mom. My grandma had been in a accident, and she was unable to tell the police anything about her, like her name, age, address, etc. i was dropped out at my aunts house, but unable to go back to sleep although it was 2 AM. Things went all downhill from there. She lived at home with my grandpa, but was hard to keep track of, because she loved to walk outside, and go shopping. She would leave, and not come back for hours. We made the decision to move her into a nursing home, but was moved around frequently, because she was escaping, and walking on busy roads. We finally got her to a reliable home, and she was there for about 3 years. She was unable to talk correctly, and b the way she acted, we knew she was not thinking correctly either. But this had started much earlier. She used to ask my mom to kill her, or tell her, her suicidal thoughts. It was unexplainable at the time, but became more clear as time went on. In 2005, right around the time of her birthday the nursing home called us and had told us she had taken a turn for the worst. All family came in to town. Even thoough half of it lived 6 hours away. No one would leave her side. It was the first time our family had been reunited for a long time. a couple weeks past, as well as her birthday, and on November 15,2005 she had passed away. With her son at her side. It was 3:04 AM. and getting the call at my house was a wake up call to reality. It was one of the worst times i have ever gone through, especially being as young as i was. I always looked for cures online, but was dissapointed that other children might have to suffer the same things i did. thats why i;m here. I'm happy to say i;ve gotten my school involved in proceeds and have become a stronger person.
