| Hi, I am new to the forum.. My father-in-law has had vascular dementia for years which has progressed to Alzheimer's. He was on a cocktail of drugs for years but never any antipsychotics until recently. The DR. tried him on several because he had become violent towards my mother -in -law. Nothing seemed to work and he ended up in a psych hospital for 3 weeks to adjust his meds.. One week out of the hospital he had an adverse reaction to Zyprexa ( The hospital had him on a high dosage, 12.5 mg a day) which caused his Blood sugar to go up to 320. Now, the DR. took him off all anti psychotics and I am afraid that the severe aggression will return. Basically, we will be back to where we started. Has anyone had experience with stopping meds? Thanks. |
