Yes, they could be, but it is very rare. Only about 5% of all Alzheimer's cases are of the familial early onset type. This form of Alzheimer's is genetic and there should be a family history of it. You can be genetically tested for this gene. I would also, given the rareness of this type of Alzheimer's actively pursue other avenues of investigation.
