The long goodbye is exhausting ,years before the final victory of death-sleep. Days when even the sun shines brightly, but not enough to to push the reality of the degeneration of a loved one away. In my case a mother, who was so fit and happy with life. Then sat in the chair motionless, stiff, without emotion or longing to live. Guilt disrupts my day, thinking of happy days spent with her. Just hope that one day a vaccine or treatment will end this misery for all involved. The fear will I inherit it too.

The pain and emptiness when a loved one has passed away from Alzheimer's is over whelming. The fact that you can't share memories and perfect sentences. That what might of been said a few moments ago to heal has been forgotten. That joy and laughter cannot be shared in the loved years and months. That you can't help them eat a bit more or ease their pain. Fisher center hear and help.

Mum had Alzheimers and although we tried our best, she had to go into a nursing home. It is a good way of coping now she has passed away to find out just how this disease works. I\'m going to be reading more on the research of Alzheimers now and helping others I know to cope with caring for some1 with it. It is reassuring to trust that 1 day a cure can be found, until then the funding of research is so necessary.

My mother is, I believe, at the endstage of Alzheimer's. I am trying to find out information about what is the "normal" day and what specifically to expect will happen in the future. Right now my Mom sleeps or lies on the bed most of the day. She will try to get up but really has a lot of pain and difficulty doing it alone. At Christmas time someone gave me a package with Santa's bells as a decoration. The bells proved to be a Godsend as we tied them to her walker and as soon as she starts to rise, we are able to get to her to help her. Is it normal for patients to sleep or lie in bed for so many hours? I would appreciate learning more to be prepared. Can anyone help or direct me to where I might find this information? Thank you and God bless you.

Caretaker for my wife who has Alzheimers, for about 5 years. The last 2 + years have been pretty bad, she has exhibited symptoms of severe stage for most of the 2 years. Most difficult is shadowing, follows me every step i take or constantly ask where I am if she can't see me, example if i am in the next room. Will not stay with someone else without becoming angry & aggressive, gave up up adult day care, because of the aggressiveness. Now leave her with a family member for about 2 hrs. While I attend monthly support meeting or for haircut, otherwise I am with her 24/7. Thanks for the chance to let off a little frustration.
