Introduction

Welcome to ALZinfo.org, the Alzheimer's information site. Our mission is to provide a single point of entry for comprehensive information and resources on Alzheimer's disease. ALZinfo.org is for caregivers, family members, people living with Alzheimer's, and anyone who has an interest in conquering this devastating disease. Think of us as your lifeline for everything related to Alzheimer's disease.

This site is brought to you by the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization devoted to the cause, care and cure of Alzheimer's.

On ALZinfo.org, you'll find answers to your questions about:

  • diagnosis and treatment
  • the latest medical breakthroughs

  • financial and legal assistance
  • continuing care facilities
  • hospice and end-of-life services

ALZinfo.org will help you become informed and stay informed. So get acquainted with the site. Explore our topic areas and special features. Search the extensive Resource Locator database of senior care services and resources. Join our growing community to stay abreast of the latest news. Most importantly, visit often, because there is always something new happening in Alzheimer's research and care, and ALZinfo.org will keep you up to date. During your travels on the site you will notice that links are colored in blue, while the links to pages you've already been to appear in orange. Only links to other pages work this way. Links to content on the same page do not change. Finally, you can return to the homepage at any time by clicking on the large ALZinfo.org logo in the top-left corner.

ALZinfo.org is organized into different topic areas to help you find what you need quickly. Each of these has its own link on the horizontal navigation bar at the top of your screen, just under the site's logo. You can place your mouse cursor over the bars to see what subjects are covered in each section.

Resource Locator


In addition to the breadth of information on ALZinfo.org, we are meticulously amassing the largest single collection of Alzheimer's-specific databases on the World Wide Web, to help you find the resources and services you need. Utilizing technology from MapQuest, the site is even able to provide detailed driving instructions and maps along with the information you have selected. By going to the Resource Locator and simply entering your zip code, city or state, you can search more than 100,000 listings, including:

  1. Doctors and other healthcare professionals
  2. Hospitals and pharmacies
  3. Continuing care facilities, from adult day care to nursing homes
  4. Care management resources
  5. Legal and financial assistance
  6. Helpful numbers for government programs and agencies
  7. and much, much more.

Special Features


We've tried to make a complex medical subject understandable. Still, you may encounter some terms with which you are not familiar. That's why we've created our own glossary to define difficult words and medical terms. Throughout the site you will notice words followed by this blue graphic. Clicking on the will open a small new window on your screen that defines the word you've selected. Then you just click "close" to return to the content. If you ever come upon a word that you think should be in the glossary but is not, you can write us at Glossary@alzinfo.org and we'll add it to our definitions list.

Your donation to The Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation will support cutting-edge scientific research aimed at curing Alzheimer's disease, and will help keep ALZinfo.org on top of new developments in Alzheimer's care. Joining the ALZinfo.org doesn't cost anything and offers you the benefits of being part of a community of people who share common concerns. Your registration will help you stay informed of the latest advances in Alzheimer's care and research through periodic emails about new features, content updates, breaking news and events of interest.

As a member, you'll also receive advance notice of special chat events, which will give you the opportunity to ask your questions of leading experts in the field. Future chat topics include Advances in Medical Treatment, Coping with Caregiving, Legal & Financial Issues in Alzheimer's Care and many others.

Our Community section is also the place to post messages to Message Boards on various topics related to Alzheimer's care. The Message Boards will be divided into different topic areas so you can visit those that are most relevant to you and connect with people who have similar interests.

As ALZinfo.org grows and continues to build partnerships with organizations that serve the needs of seniors, more member benefits will be announced.
