Betsy Gotbaum was the New York City Public Advocate from 2001-2009. As Public Advocate she focused on education policy, along with women’s issues, child welfare, affordable housing and senior services. She has been a trusted adviser to three mayors, was well-regarded as parks commissioner under Mayor David N. Dinkins and was director of the Police Foundation. She also was president of the New York Historical Society.
She is currently doing consulting work for an electronic medical records company and is on the board of a closed end investment fund as well as serving on 6 non-profit boards.
